What to see
Cwmifor is five minutes’ drive from the historic hilltop town of Llandeilo with its excellent craft and specialist shops, antique emporia, galleries and restaurants. The internationally acclaimed Llandeilo Music Festival takes place this year between 12th and 19th July. www.llandeilo.org

The surrounding area is steeped in history with many historic castles, stately homes and beautiful gardens close by.
There are many attractive walks from Kites’ Nest into the surrounding countryside which is a haven for wildlife and perfect for birdwatching.

The Heart of Wales railway line, linking Swansea to Shrewsbury runs through the most picturesque of scenery with stops along the way including Llandrindod Wells, Llanwrtyd Wells and Buillth Wells. You may join the train at stations at Llandeilo and Llandovery. www.heart-of-wales.co.uk
There are some spectacular castles nearby including Carreg Cennen and Dryslwyn. Throughout the year both the restored gardens at Aberglasney www.aberglasney.org and the National Botanic Garden of Wales www.gardenofwales.org.uk boast a wide range of plants in flower and are all within a few miles’ radius.
The beautiful Gower Coast, the seven mile beach at Pendine Sands and the historic village of Laugharne – from which Dylan Thomas took his inspiration for “Under Milk Wood” and the famous seaside boathouse where he lived and created many of his works - are all worthwhile excursions. www.dylanthomasboathouse.com.
