What to see

Cwmifor is five minutes’ drive from the historic hilltop town of Llandeilo with its excellent craft and specialist shops, antiques emporia, galleries and restaurants. The internationally acclaimed Llandeilo Music Festival and the Llandeilo Literary Festival take place annually in July.

The surrounding area is steeped in history with many historic castles, stately homes and beautiful gardens close by.

There are many attractive walks from Kites’ Nest into the surrounding countryside which is a haven for wildlife and perfect for birdwatching.

The Heart of Wales railway line, linking Swansea to Shrewsbury runs through the most picturesque of scenery with stops along the way including Llandrindod Wells, Llanwrtyd Wells and Builth Wells. You may join the train at stations at Llandeilo and Llandovery. www.heart-of-wales.co.uk

There are some spectacular castles nearby including Dinefwr, Carreg Cennen and Dryslwyn. Throughout the year both the restored gardens at Aberglasney and the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Cae Hir Gardens boast a wide range of plants in flower and are all within a few miles’ radius.

Just over an hour's drive away is St. Davids - the smallest city in the U.K. - and its historic cathedral, the site of pilgrimage and worship for many hundreds of years.
